“(...) the crux of Slow research is less about a register of speed than it is about awareness - and especially about the shifts in perception and positioning that can be provoked when we commit to more expansive ways of being in and of the world.”
Carolyn F Strauss in Slow Spatial Reader: Chronicles of Affection

DAS Graduate School | June 6th 2023

Together with founder of the Slow Research Lab, Carolyn F. Strauss, the Care Ecologies group brought forth an exchange on the topic of slow research, care practices and their manifestations in artistic research.

During the session Carolyn engaged participants in the vision and practice of the multidisciplinary research and curatorial platform Slow Research Lab, presenting past and current work, leading into some slow-research exercises. The get-together focused on the exchange of art-and-research approaches related to layered understandings of care and slowness.

The exercises and small group conversations brought up questions around the ‘how’ of slowness and of taking -and giving time within an ecology. How can others hold that particular spatio-temporality of slowing for you? Or how can different modalities of time and speed be considered in facilitation and collaboration?
